about uninhibited wellness
I honestly don’t remember what the husband said—but I’ll never forget his wife’s response: “I’m a therapist.”
I began my undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, originally intending to pursue a degree in fashion merchandising. But after my first year, I found myself questioning whether that path truly aligned with who I was and what I wanted to do with my life.
That summer, I returned home to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and worked at a local coffee shop—the same one where I had worked before leaving for college. It felt natural to be back, and during my shifts, I began asking customers about their careers, hoping for some inspiration and clarity. One day, a couple came in during a summer road trip, and as part of my usual curiosity, I asked them what they did for a living. I honestly don’t remember what the husband said—but I’ll never forget his wife’s response: “I’m a therapist.”
The Therapist
My journey to becoming a sex therapist didn’t start the way you might expect.
I bring a unique blend of compassion and directness to my work—I will support you fully while also challenging you to grow, heal, and move toward the life you truly want.
My approach to therapy is warm, honest, and collaborative.
I asked her what kind of therapist she was, and when she told me she was a sex therapist, I was immediately intrigued. I had never considered that field before, but it felt right. I asked her how she got into the work, and she spent nearly an hour talking with me about her path, the education it required, and the impact it could have. That conversation changed everything.
I returned to UT that fall with a renewed sense of direction and purpose. I switched my major to Social Work and earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. I later pursued graduate studies at Widener University, earning both a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Master of Education in Human Sexuality—a unique and rigorous dual-degree program. At the time, Widener was one of the only institutions offering specialized training in sex therapy, and I was honored to be part of it.
Since completing my education, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of populations, from adolescents to older adults, in both clinical and community settings.
I live with my husband and son on a quiet farm in East Tennessee, where we’re joined by our three dogs—Rocky, Winston, and Roxy—and our farm cat, Gus. We love spending time outdoors, exploring the beauty of East Tennessee as a family. When I’m not with clients, you’ll find me enjoying an intentional getaway, relaxing with a great series, or tackling the ever-evolving to-do list that comes with farm life.
That simple answer sparked something in me.
I specialize in sex therapy for individuals and couples navigating intimacy, desire, identity, and emotional disconnection. Whether you're feeling stuck in your relationship, disconnected from your body, or unsure how to express your needs, I provide a space to explore those concerns with clarity, compassion, and intention. I also work with clients through life transitions, roles shifts, and identity exploration.
What issues do you specialize in?
Sex therapy focuses specifically on the emotional, relational, and psychological aspects of sexuality. It addresses concerns like low desire, performance anxiety, shame, pain with intimacy, and communication breakdowns around sex and connection. While it often overlaps with traditional talk therapy, sex therapy is more specialized—and deeply attuned to how intimacy, identity, and pleasure are connected to your overall well-being.
What is sex therapy, and how is it different from other types of therapy?
Your first session is about understanding you—not just your concerns, but your goals, values, and hopes. I’ll complete an initial assessment to get a clear picture of your needs, and we’ll talk about what brought you in. From there, we’ll decide together if we’re a good fit, and if so, I’ll offer a treatment plan tailored to your journey. This is a collaborative, pressure-free process designed with your comfort and clarity in mind.
What can I expect in the first session?
My fee is $185 per 50-minute individual session and $225 per 50-minute couples session. I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly, but I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. These rates reflect the standard for specialized, high-touch care in this field—and the depth of experience, training, and personal attention you’ll receive.
What are your rates?
Not at all. While many clients come to sex therapy because something feels painful, confusing, or unfulfilling, others come out of curiosity or a desire for deeper self-awareness. Therapy is a space to grow—not just to "fix" something. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from this work. It’s about becoming more connected to yourself and your relationships, wherever you are in that process.
Is sex therapy only for people with “problems”?
Yes. This is your space. Nothing is too small, too big, or too taboo. Whether you're unpacking shame, exploring a fantasy, navigating identity, or just trying to make sense of your emotions—your experiences are valid and welcome here. Our sessions are guided by respect, safety, and your comfort level.
Can I talk about anything in therapy?
Absolutely. Uninhibited Wellness is an affirming and inclusive practice. I welcome clients from all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, people in non-traditional relationship structures, and those navigating cultural or religious influences around sexuality and identity. My approach is respectful, grounded, and tailored to you.
Do you work with people from different cultures, religions, or orientations?
I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or reschedules. If you miss your session or cancel late, the full session fee will apply. This policy supports the consistency of your care and allows me to reserve time exclusively for you and others who may be waiting for availability.
